Soulclap and Tanner Ross are all fresh with some new productions that have successfully transported their names and the Boston rep around the world from Claude Vonstroke’s Turntables to Josh Wink’s world tour. Pat Fontes keeps his King of Techno’s crown well screwed on the top of his head. With some releases out on labels like Thoughtless music and currently launching his own label, that is sure to showcase some top talent, including his own productions which are turning the court’s heads.

The Boyz are back in town! We know you probably missed ‘em last September, but you just hit the jackpot cause we’ve got our current favorite DJs coming to town again, just for you (well it’s also for my birthday and also cause Boston needs to hear them now more than ever). Emily leads the gang to an underground nightclub where she attempts to show Brandon the ultimate pleasure with drugs after she puts a hallucinogen in his drink, with disastrous emotional and financial consequences for him when they are forced to flee from a police raid only to leave Brandon’s car behind which gets stripped and ripped apart. Meanwhile, Kelly and Donna worry about David who gets drunk at the rave, while Steve and Andrea get lost in the inner city looking for the rest of the gang and driving to the wrong place each time.

This coming Saturday is the first Saturday of March and you know that that means we’re going to be celebrating another top choice champagne event at InterContinental Boston’s extra-classy drinking establishment, RumBa. This time it’s not just one champagne sponsor it’s THREE vintage bubblers, Louis Roederer (the makers of Cristal), Krug & the ultimate classic Dom Perignon and as always the super secret champagne room will be open to the public, there will be a bar made of ice, chocolate dipped fruit trees will be provided at midnight, we will be playing a choice selection of vintage 70’s and 80’s atmosfloor and downce music and our bubbly buddy VjeKash will be providing the visual stimulation. Last month’s P(errier)J(ouet) slumber party was as bubbly as it gets and if you’re wondering what it all sounds like our post on that is perfect example.

When we tell people about our weekly residency at RumBa, the super classy bar in the lobby of the year old Intercontinental Boston, they’re usually not sure what to expect. We tell them about the laid back atmosphere, the secret champagne room, and the unique style of chillout/dance music that we play there (but still can’t really explain). But people still don’t quite get it. Until they come visit us on a Saturday night and see for themselves. And then they usually say the same thing: “I don’t feel like I’m in Boston right now”.

The first Saturday of every month at RumBa a different champagne company hosts a special event that features a champagne bar made of ice, midnight treats and access to the usually private entirely red velvet champagne room. This month our host is Perrier-Jouet and since their initials are P.J. it looks we’re having a slumber party (yes, we will be wearing pajamas and you should too). While it may sound a little snooty for the average Soul Clap fan, don’t get the wrong impression, just dress up a little bit (or wear your PJs) and bring your dancing shoes and we promise to make this Saturday the best time you’ve had in Boston in longer then you remember (for real for real).

A group of our friends is walking 60 miles in the Susan G.Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3-Day Walk for the Cure and in order to complete this challenge they need to raise $10,000. So we decided to lend a hand and DJ their Summer Luau Fundraiser, this Friday, July 27th.

For sure for sure it’s gunna be a party because it’s outside at the same spot that we do DOTC and we’ll be mixing our favorite summer time classics! Oh yeah and our girl Jen Saphier organized the whole deal so you know it will be proper. There’s also alot of other fun party stuff like BBQ from Red Bones in Somerville and raffle prizes including a Botox package valued at $500.00 from Dr. Aaron Fay of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a deluxe party package from Saphier Events. PLUS: rock your luau gear and sign up to be a part of one of the old school backyard BBQ games including limbo and the classic egg toss.

This party will be stupid fresh. Alix made a name for himself in the NYC deep house scene linking up with the Masters At Work (Louie Vega and Kenny Dope) studios and guys like Mr. V and Arnold Jarvis. He’s young, his production work is ridiculous and he’s known for setting off parties all over the world!

Gonna be a sweet show, Boston’s own SOUL CLAP will be opening, Alix will rock till 2a, then we’ll take the party over to RISE, downtown on Stuart St where Soul Clap will continue rocking the lounge from 2a-6a. DJ’s Hush (Mothertounge Records) and Bons (Bon Johnson, Inuendo Recs) will beat up the mainroom upstairs!

SWEAT Thursdays at The Goodlife continues its guest DJ series with a very special appearance from Stones Throw Records label founder and acclaimed DJ/recording artist/producer Peanut Butter Wolf.

Chris Manak took on the name Peanut Butter Wolf in the late-80s when he realized that, in an odd turn of events, a girlfriend’s youngest brother feared the “peanut butter wolf monster” more than death itself. PB Wolf began recording in 1989 as a teenager within a few years had himself a record contract with Hollywood Basic (Disney) alongside label mates Organized Konfusion and DJ Shadow. PB Wolf’s career had begun, tours in Europe, press in Billboard magazine, hanging with the big boys and live concerts with groups like House of Pain, Nas and The Pharcyde, it was show time.

PB Wolf’s true notoriety wasn’t born until early in 1994, when Upstairs Records, a label known primarily for house music, approached PB Wolf to record an instrumental LP. Aptly titled Peanut Butter Breaks, this record became the PB Wolf’s calling card, leading to meetings and collaborations with like-minded DJs like Q-bert, Cut Chemist and Rob Swift. Overnight, PB Wolf found himself in demand as a producer and continued to release highly praised material steadily throughout the 90’s.

Lately, PB Wolf has moved away from producing (save the odd remix or compilation track) to build the Stones Throw label and to travel as a DJ to Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada, and across the US (and now to BOSTON, Woo-hoo!).

In terms of DJ sets, PB Wolf is known to perform entire sets off 45’s (those are the records with the big holes in them that DJs spend live saving on and your mom has hidden in a box in the attic) and take an audience on a journey of heady deep disco, boogie, funk, soul, hip-hop, breaks, electro, the WORKS.

He’s a major player at OM Records, The United Nations of Future Music. He manned the controls for us at The Zoo last August and at Legends of Style last October. We hope you’re glad to have him back too. There will be a $5 cover tonight.
