Mr Cloutier has made his mark in the big apple as a DJ for the Brooklyns famous Bunker parties as well as Subtrak Records. We first met up with him at this year’s DEMF where he pushing the Accelerate Afterparty @ The Works with Daniel Bell, Sammy Dee and Zip on the line-up.
From the AirDrop Blog:

For those that were not fortunate enough to come to NYC for the AirDrop Records release party or fly to El Salvador last week-end for Soulclap’s monsoon-like performance, this time we will do it up a bit different, since it is back to home territory and like our beloved Celtics they just always kill at home!

Soulclap and Tanner Ross are all fresh with some new productions that have successfully transported their names and the Boston rep around the world from Claude Vonstroke’s Turntables to Josh Wink’s world tour. Pat Fontes keeps his King of Techno’s crown well screwed on the top of his head. With some releases out on labels like Thoughtless music and currently launching his own label, that is sure to showcase some top talent, including his own productions which are turning the court’s heads.

So come bring the local support for the fresh fruit party with Soulclap, Tanner Ross, Pat Fontes who will be playing the upstairs and Matt Dimond in the lounge below who will take the evening deeper underground (not in the Jamiroquai way- duh!)

PLUS one of our favorite Boston DJs Matty Dimond is in the lounge.

RAIN OR SHINE – CASH ONLY BAR

The June 28th / “triumphant return from the brink” edition of Dancing On The Charles features special guest Vincenzo from Berlin. Known as the the “king of pong”, Vincenzo and has been releasing innovatively funky house and techno since 1997 on amazing labels like Dessous, Poker Flat & liebe*detail and has developed a reputation for his signature claps. We have a DJ mix coming from him soon, but for now just check out his music on myspace and you’ll see why we’re so excited to have him perform under the stars on the Charles.

Dancing On The Charles is a deliberate reaction to the people’s desire for a return to grassroots nightlife. Big sound system, great DJs, electronic music, BBQ, dancing outdoors and affordable prices. Thanks to the City Of Cambridge, DOTC returns on June 28th as a benefit for the American Legion and the Charles River Watershed Association!

The Boyz are back in town! We know you probably missed ‘em last September, but you just hit the jackpot cause we’ve got our current favorite DJs coming to town again, just for you (well it’s also for my birthday and also cause Boston needs to hear them now more than ever). Why do we love the Italoboyz so much you ask? Well first of all “[they] don’t play guitars!“, they’re even weirder than we are and their love of weird instruments has led to them creating some of the most interestingly crazy techno/house music of the last couple years, including last summer’s breakout hit “Viktor Casanova” on Mothership, the winter party monster “Zinga” on Get Physical and the brand new jacking, John Coltrane sampling “Bahia”, which is guaranteed to destroy any dancefloor (you can hear them all below). We also love Italoboyz because they play our music and also because of their amazingly fun partytime set at the Cheap Sunglasses Afterhours at this year’s WMC that you can listen to here. But I ramble on, It’s my birthday dammit, so all of Boston better be in attendance.

This Saturday, the party is STILL ON! Doors at 9pm – great food & only $5 cover all night long – 21+***

The second installation of Dancing On The Charles summer event series proudly presents a US debut performance of Trus’me (Defected Records, Prime Numbers, UK). BBC radio’s Giles Peterson is calling him “The most interesting and promising young producer in the country [UK] right now” . Trus’me is a disco edit and deep house king and we’re very excited to hear him turn the party out.

It’s also by birthday BBQ so prepare for shenanigans!

The listening party at LAB (113 Brighton Ave) is 7:30-9:30p. First 50 people to ask get a free copy of our Great White Hope vol. III mixtape, which features 15 tracks of Soul Clap originals and remixes!

The official record release at Wednesdays @ Phoenix Landing (512 Mass Ave) is from 10p-1a. We’ve got special guest DJ Die Young (Basstown) opening with a minimal set from 10-11:30 and then Soul Clap closing out. A lucky few might also get a copy the Great White Hope vol. III, MAYBE if they’re luck, REAL lucky…

Last month’s P(errier)J(ouet) slumber party was as bubbly as it gets and if you’re wondering what it all sounds like our post on that is perfect example.

When we tell people about our weekly residency at RumBa, the super classy bar in the lobby of the year old Intercontinental Boston, they’re usually not sure what to expect. We tell them about the laid back atmosphere, the secret champagne room, and the unique style of chillout/dance music that we play there (but still can’t really explain). But people still don’t quite get it. Until they come visit us on a Saturday night and see for themselves. And then they usually say the same thing: “I don’t feel like I’m in Boston right now”.

The first Saturday of every month at RumBa a different champagne company hosts a special event that features a champagne bar made of ice, midnight treats and access to the usually private entirely red velvet champagne room. This month our host is Perrier-Jouet and since their initials are P.J. it looks we’re having a slumber party (yes, we will be wearing pajamas and you should too). While it may sound a little snooty for the average Soul Clap fan, don’t get the wrong impression, just dress up a little bit (or wear your PJs) and bring your dancing shoes and we promise to make this Saturday the best time you’ve had in Boston in longer then you remember (for real for real).

Oh yeah. About that music we play, but can’t describe. Here’s the last hour+ of our live set that got it moving last week. includes a range of booty shakers, including some: italo disco, french touch, house, salsa, reggae, Prince and even Mary J. to close out the night.

If you haven’t been to one of the champagne events at RumBa yet, this next party is a perfect introduction. The first Saturday of each month, this already posh lounge is transformed into bubbly bliss and the Bollinger event will be no exception. With the nod from 007 himself (James Bond has drunk Bollinger Grande Année and R.D. since 1973’s Live and Let Die) our theme is 100% secret agent. So if you’ve been holding on to lazer gun wristwatches, exploding bubble gum, or x-ray specs now is the time to bust them out!

The music starts around 10p, at midnight expect complimentary treats (chocolate strawberries and all that good shtuff), so come party, relax, listen to tunes and check out the always fresh visuals from VJ KashMoney!

Once again we escape to the stratosphere. A new ionesphere of funk is here. Make sure to reserve your seat on the mothership today, because you don’t want to be sucked out of the airlock. Cause that sucks, haven’t you seen the movies? You float away forever and that’s a total bumout.

Do you like Breast Cancer? Well, neither do we!

A group of our friends is walking 60 miles in the Susan G.Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3-Day Walk for the Cure and in order to complete this challenge they need to raise $10,000. So we decided to lend a hand and DJ their Summer Luau Fundraiser, this Friday, July 27th.

For sure for sure it’s gunna be a party because it’s outside at the same spot that we do DOTC and we’ll be mixing our favorite summer time classics! Oh yeah and our girl Jen Saphier organized the whole deal so you know it will be proper. There’s also alot of other fun party stuff like BBQ from Red Bones in Somerville and raffle prizes including a Botox package valued at $500.00 from Dr. Aaron Fay of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a deluxe party package from Saphier Events. PLUS: rock your luau gear and sign up to be a part of one of the old school backyard BBQ games including limbo and the classic egg toss.

THE PARTY STARTS AT 7PM & ONLY COSTS $5 BEFORE 10PM. IT GOES UP TO $10 AFTER 10PM.

Dancing on the Charles is not about the marquee names and whos who. This party is about the locals, the summer and the beats. Besides, Boston only has a few months of good weather, so why not make the most of it. Honestly I just want a place to drink beers outside while Im DJing. says Sergio Santos, whos recent opening sets at Avalon have made him the clubs newest resident. Thats what will make this the best party of the summer. Forget clubs, forget dress codes, this is real DJs playing real music for real people!

Early arrivals will taste the true spirit of the party. Cheap drinks, inexpensive eats (courtesy of Joses Mexican Restaurant in Cambridge) and most importantly a sunset mix of the finest dance music in town.Expect DJ sets from the Marz DJs, Soul Clap and friends. Ask yourself, when was the last time a party felt this good in Boston? No, youre thinking of LANope, that was in NYC. Ah, youve got it! Wrong again, you were in Europe! Join us, trust the DJ, youre not going to want it to end!

DJ LINEUP CONFIRMED! KC Hallet – Soul Clap – Sergio Santos – Randy Deshais – The Bald & The Beautiful

Soul Clap and Marz Entertainment welcome ALIX ALVAREZ for a FIRST TIME BOSTON APPEARANCE at the Redline in Harvard Square.

This party will be stupid fresh. Alix made a name for himself in the NYC deep house scene linking up with the Masters At Work (Louie Vega and Kenny Dope) studios and guys like Mr. V and Arnold Jarvis. He’s young, his production work is ridiculous and he’s known for setting off parties all over the world!

Gonna be a sweet show, Boston’s own SOUL CLAP will be opening, Alix will rock till 2a, then we’ll take the party over to RISE, downtown on Stuart St where Soul Clap will continue rocking the lounge from 2a-6a. DJ’s Hush (Mothertounge Records) and Bons (Bon Johnson, Inuendo Recs) will beat up the mainroom upstairs!

Also make sure to check KC laying down the grooves every Friday at Redline!

WORD – Here is a video of Alix beating it in South Africa

Girl, I’ll house you
Girl, I’ll house you
Girl, I’ll house you
You in my hut now, my hut
Girl, I’ll house you
Girl, I’ll house you
Girl, I’ll house you
You in my hut now
When you’re in my hut
You know what’s up
Let your mind be free
Relax your body
Jump, jump a little higher
Jump, jump until you get tired
House your body
House your body
House your body to the bass
House it all over the place
Don’t let nobody in your way
Tonight’s your night, today’s your day
Afrika won’t steer you wrong
(Say what?) House music all night long (4x)

Mike G:

I’ll house you
I’ll house you
I’ll house you
You in my hut now (repeat 2x)

Break

Mike G:

Girl, I see you
Do what you do
Go on, girl, and act a fool
There’s no need to play it cool
Everybody, shake your body
(We got’s to make this a real house party)
Come on, come on and stick with me
I’ll keep things the way they should be
Keep your house until you sweat
‘Cause you ain’t seen nothin’ yet
House is food and you need it
If I feed it, you should eat it
Say, “House your body, house your body” (2x)
You know, Mike G won’t steer you wrong
House music all night long
(Say what?) House music all night long (2x)
House music all night long

Afrika:

I’ll house you
I’ll house you
I’ll house you
You in my hut now (2x)

Break

Hook: Afrika

Round and round and round and round and round and..
Hear the house music steady steady poundin
Feel the energy rush up to your face
Feel the vibe, feel the vibe, feel the bass

SWEAT Thursdays at The Goodlife continues its guest DJ series with a very special appearance from Stones Throw Records label founder and acclaimed DJ/recording artist/producer Peanut Butter Wolf.

Chris Manak took on the name Peanut Butter Wolf in the late-80s when he realized that, in an odd turn of events, a girlfriend’s youngest brother feared the “peanut butter wolf monster” more than death itself. PB Wolf began recording in 1989 as a teenager within a few years had himself a record contract with Hollywood Basic (Disney) alongside label mates Organized Konfusion and DJ Shadow. PB Wolf’s career had begun, tours in Europe, press in Billboard magazine, hanging with the big boys and live concerts with groups like House of Pain, Nas and The Pharcyde, it was show time.

PB Wolf’s true notoriety wasn’t born until early in 1994, when Upstairs Records, a label known primarily for house music, approached PB Wolf to record an instrumental LP. Aptly titled Peanut Butter Breaks, this record became the PB Wolf’s calling card, leading to meetings and collaborations with like-minded DJs like Q-bert, Cut Chemist and Rob Swift. Overnight, PB Wolf found himself in demand as a producer and continued to release highly praised material steadily throughout the 90’s.

Lately, PB Wolf has moved away from producing (save the odd remix or compilation track) to build the Stones Throw label and to travel as a DJ to Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada, and across the US (and now to BOSTON, Woo-hoo!).

In terms of DJ sets, PB Wolf is known to perform entire sets off 45’s (those are the records with the big holes in them that DJs spend live saving on and your mom has hidden in a box in the attic) and take an audience on a journey of heady deep disco, boogie, funk, soul, hip-hop, breaks, electro, the WORKS.

SWEAT is twice a month on Thursday. SWEAT is 21+. There is NO COVER when it is just Soul Clap. There will be a cover when we have special guest pilots. SWEAT is at GoodLife. GoodLife is at 28 Kingston Street, in the financial district, Boston, MA, USA, Earth. Here is a map.
