NOW, to all you wonderful folks who came to D.O.T.C. on 8/23: THANK YOU! You’re probably tired of hearing us always say that we can’t do it without you, but it’s so damn true. It makes us so psyched to have these crazy outdoor dance parties (in Boston/Cambridge no less) that we have to keep saying it over and over again so you know how serious we are. Last Saturday couldn’t have been a more beautiful summer night and despite some technical difficulties with the sound (sorry for that) the recordings of the sets finally came out right. Thanks again to all and especially these guys, some of Boston’s best DJs for holding it down just right. Enjoy!

The FINAL DOTC of 2008 takes place on Saturday, September 20th. Tanner Ross, Soul Clap, Sergio Santos, Randy Deshaies, Matty Dimond and Mr. Techno himself Pat Fontes will all rock a seemingly endless 4 turntable 2 mixer house/techno barrage to keep you moving. Hope to see everyone there and believe: we WILL BE BACK in 2009!

First of all, DOTC returned to the Marsh Post after a brief hiatus, complete with the added visual stimulation of VJ Zebbler on 3 screens (see video above) and more than enough port-o-potties and beer outside to last the night. Pictures are up here (thanks Iris) and here (thanks JK) and as always a super-mega thank you goes out to everyone that came out and danced their asses off. You make us so proud to be able to throw these parties, there is no DOTC without your support!
Second of all, for our next DOTC on July 12th, we’re joined by Boston’s undisputed king of digging and BBE recording artist, DJ Kon of the On Track mixtape series fame. Kon will be playing deep dance music of all kinds from 8-10pm to setup the vibe just right and we’ll be posting some exclusive Kon mixes to get you in the mood the next couple weeks, so stay tuned.

Saturday, July 12th, Dancing on the Charles is in full effect with the forth installment of the 2008 summer event series. Headlining this event with a very special BBQ SET from 8-10p, is internationally acclaimed “King of Diggingâ€Â, BBE recording artist and lifetime Boston resident DJ KON. KON is known for his mind-blowing technique and impeccable selection of funk, soul, disco, house, boogie and WAY MORE. Also performing will be DJs Randy Deshaies, Sergio Santos and a closing set from Soulclap.
Dancing On The Charles is a deliberate reaction to the people’s desire for a return to grassroots nightlife. Big sound system, great DJs, electronic music, BBQ, dancing outdoors and affordable prices. Thanks to the City Of Cambridge, DOTC returns on June 28th as a benefit for the American Legion and the Charles River Watershed Association!

But before I explain I want to thank everyone that came through Redline on Saturday and filled our indoor edition of D.O.T.C. with the kind of energy that dreams are made of. Trus’me kept the packed dancefloor moving with his amazing blend of disco, house, techno and beyond for the last two hours, but before that I had the chance to play some proper partytime house music. If you’re still sleeping on Trus’me, its time to wake up! The man has been called “The most interesting and promising producer in the [UK] right now” by BBC radio’s Giles Peterson and with a mind-blowing catalogue of music released on labels like Prime Numbers (his own), Stilove4music, Fat City and shortly on dance music major Defected, its no surprise why. Trus’me is an amalgam of disco, funk and deep house and in a time when electronic and techy sounds seem to set the trend, Trus’me’s music fills in a much needed soulful void. How soulful is Trus’me? The June 28th / “triumphant return from the brink” edition of Dancing On The Charles features special guest Vincenzo from Berlin. Known as the the “king of pong”, Vincenzo and has been releasing innovatively funky house and techno since 1997 on amazing labels like Dessous, Poker Flat & liebe*detail and has developed a reputation for his signature claps. We have a DJ mix coming from him soon, but for now just check out his music on myspace and you’ll see why we’re so excited to have him perform under the stars on the Charles.
